Osteopenia Assessment and Treatment
Osteopenia is an early stage of bone loss in which bone density is below the normal range but not low enough to be classified as osteoporosis. Because individual fracture risk depends on more than a bone-density score, Integrated Wellness takes a comprehensive approach to osteopenia care in Maine, considering medical history, laboratory results, nutrition, lifestyle, fall risk, and other factors that may affect bone strength.
The osteopenia assessment and treatment program focuses on:
Evaluating fracture risk
Identifying possible secondary causes through laboratory analysis
Reviewing nutrition and providing individualized guidance
Introducing practical lifestyle modifications
Providing clear bone-health education
Assessing fall risk
Developing a safe exercise program based on your fitness level using the BoneFit™ method
Slowing further bone loss with medication or nonmedication approaches
Helping prevent spinal deformity
Helping maintain strength and prevent frailty
Your plan may emphasize resistance and balance exercise, nutrition, supplements, lifestyle changes, or ongoing monitoring. If your fracture risk indicates a need for medical treatment, the practitioner is experienced with FDA-approved therapies such as bisphosphonates, antibodies, hormones, and anabolic agents. A limited number of traditional, non-managed-care Original Medicare patients are accepted through the osteoporosis clinic. Contact Integrated Wellness to discuss your results, assess your risks, and create a personalized plan for protecting your bones.
